This post is designed specifically for people ready to find out what couponing is all about. People who want to get started, but really don’t know where to begin. All the coupons needed below can be found in THIS WEEKS Sunday paper….3/25/12!! Grab a double Sunday paper this week, they are $5, and you can get one at CVS Sunday morning!
Below is a list of a few transactions in order. Be sure to separate the transactions for maximum savings. At CVS this is called “Rolling” Extra Care Bucks. Don’t feel awkward approaching the counter and separating your transactions. The cashiers deal with it all the time…trust me. There are extreme couponers everywhere….so much so that I suggest you get up early on Sunday, grab your paper and try to be at CVS by the time it opens! Check with your CVS, some will start their sales Saturday night. If you wait too long…some things may be gone!! CVS deals run from Sunday through Saturday.
Here is a little Coupon lingo you may need for this.
OOP – Out of Pocket (What you will pay at the register)
WYB – When you buy WYS – When you spend
B1G1 or BOGO – Buy one get one
ECB – Extra Care Bucks (Bucks that you will get back at the end of a transaction that can be used at CVS)
RP – That is the Red Plum insert in the newspaper
PG – Proctor and Gamble insert in the newspaper
SS – Smart Source insert in the newspaper
Your first stop ALWAYS when entering CVS should be the coupon machine. You can scan your CVS card and coupons will print. Scan it a couple times until it says there are no more left. These you can use along with manufacturers coupons. Also of the time $3 off your purchase of $15 or $4 off your purchase of $20 coupons will print. These are great because the amount spent is based on your subtotal BEFORE coupons!! If you get one of these, I’ve shown you below what transactions to bunch together to get to your subtotal, you will still get all your ECB back!
