CVS for Beginners 4-15 thru 4-21

14 Apr

This post is designed specifically for people ready to find out what couponing is all about.  People who want to get started, but really don’t know where to begin.  All the coupons needed below can be found in THIS WEEKS Sunday paper or printable online!!  Grab a Sunday paper this week, they are $3, and you can get one at CVS Sunday morning! (even use your $3 ECB at the end of thispost to pay for your paper!)

Below is a list of a few transactions in order.  Be sure to separate the transactions for maximum savings.  At CVS this is called “Rolling” Extra Care Bucks.   Don’t feel awkward approaching the counter and separating your transactions.  The cashiers deal with it all the time…trust me.  There are extreme couponers everywhere….so much so that I suggest you get up early on Sunday, grab your paper and try to be at CVS by the time it opens!  Check with your CVS, some will start their sales Saturday evening.  If you wait too long…some things may be gone!!  CVS deals run from Sunday through Saturday.

Your first stop ALWAYS when entering CVS should be the Magic Coupon Machine.  You can scan your CVS card and coupons will print.  Scan it a couple times until it says there are no more left.  These you stack with manufacturers coupons.  (Stack – using a store coupon AND a manufacturer coupon one a single item) Alot of the time $3 off your purchase of $15 or $4 off your purchase of $20 coupons will print.  These are great because the amount spent is based on your subtotal BEFORE coupons!!  If you get one of these, I’ve shown you below what transactions to bunch together to get to your subtotal, you will still get all your ECB back!

Transaction 1
(1) NatuRelief  Chewable tablets $8.49
Total OutOfPocket – $8.49
Get back $8.49 ECB

Transaction 2
(1) Bic Disposable Razors (Flex4, Comfort3, Soleil) – $6.99
(2) Right Guard Total Defense Body wash and deodorants – 2/$6.00

Transaction 3
(4) Starburts or Skittles (mix matchup) 4/$2
(1) Colgate Total $2.99
Total $4.99
(There is a $1/1 Colgate coupon in the SS insert, it states Colgate Total Advanced…if the Advanced is included in the CVS sale, use this coupon, your OOP will be $0, and still get your $3ECB, if not, see below)
Use $4 ECB from transaction 2
Total OOP – $.99
Get back $3 ECB

Total Out of Pocket – $9.49
Total ECB left over at end – $3.00
Total # of items – 10
Approx Value of items on sale – $26.97

Now you are left with $3 ECB to spend as you please.  You can pay for your newspaper with it, put it towards something you need, or save it for next weeks deals!
