CVS Scenario for beginners 3/4/12

2 Mar

This post is designed specifically for people ready to find out what couponing is all about.  People who want to get started, but really don’t know where to begin.  Usually in order to get the best deals each week, you must have your coupons from the weeks prior.  This week at CVS there are a few great deals where you only need coupons from the 3/4/12 Sunday paper.

Below is a list of 3 transaction in order.  Don’t feel awkward approaching the counter and separating your transactions.  The cashiers deal with it all the time…trust me.  There are extreme couponers everywhere….so much so that I suggest you get up early on Sunday, grab your paper and try to be at CVS by the time it opens at 8.  If you wait too long…some things may be gone!!  CVS deals run from Sunday through Saturday.

Here is a little Coupon lingo you will need for this.
OOP – Out of Pocket (What you will pay at the register)
WYB – When you buy
ECB – Extra Care Bucks (Bucks that you will get back at the end of a transaction that can be used at CVS)
RP – That is the Red Plum insert in the newspaper
PG – Proctor and Gamble insert in the newspaper
SS – Smart Source insert in the newspaper
(You will not always get all 3 every week…sometimes there may only be 1 insert…sometimes there are as many as 6)

Transaction 1
Buy 1 Olay Daily Facial Cloths 30-33ct. or Face Wash – $3.99
Buy 1 Olay Body Wash – $6.99
Coupon 1 – B1G1 Olay Body Wash, up to $8.99 WYB Olay Facial Cleanser (03/04/2012 PG)
Coupon 2 – $2/1 Olay Bar, Body Wash or In-Shower Body Lotion (03/04/2012 PG)
OOP $1.99
Get Back: $2 ECB for Olay Body Wash
Final Price: Both products FREE!!
(limit 1…you can only do this once per CVS card)

Transaction 2
Oak Farms Milk Gallon – $3.49
Gold Emblem Jelly Beans 7oz. $.99
(must be from the Easter section)
Use $2 ECB from transaction 1
OOP $2.48
Get Back: $1.99 ECB
Final Price: $.49
(limit 2 on milk…limit 1 on Jelly beans)

Transaction 3
Gillette Venus ProSkin, Embrace or Breeze Razor – $9.99
Less: $2/1 Venus Razor, Refill or Disposable or Daisy Disposable (03/04/2012 PG)
Use $1.99 ECB from transaction 2
OOP $6
Get Back: $5 ECB
Final Price: $1.00
(limit 1)

That’s a total of $10.47 OOP for all the items above, PLUS you end up with $5 ECB to spend as you please!

That means all the items above cost you $5.47 and a little bit of your time!

Then take your $5 ECB and get whatever you want, or save them for the deals next week!  Here are some ideas!  Make sure your total is $5 or more, you cannot cash out on ECB

Softsoap 4pk bars – $2/7 – Get back $5 ECB WYB 2
Final Price $2
(If you have coupons from previous weeks, there is a $1.50 off coupon, use 2 of those and you will have a $1 money maker!!)
